As an import-driven economy, Taiwan relies heavily on wooden pallets to move and store goods. Yet many of these pallets reach the end of their intended use as soon as a shipment arrives. Unless they are collected for reuse, even minor damage can be enough to take them out of circulation and turn usable timber into waste.
Our work with discarded pallets began with a simple idea: we can meet the need for wooden furniture without cutting down another tree. We collect discarded pallets, take them apart, sort the timber, and work with what remains—giving the material new purpose through furniture and other applications.
In recent years, we have also brought this approach into collaborations with businesses, exploring how reclaimed pallet wood can remain in use across different contexts and at a larger scale.
