Partition screens, modular desks, and steel filing cabinets once defined the conventional office. Widely adopted during the rapid growth of corporate workplaces in the 1980s, these systems have gradually fallen out of use as ways of working—and the spaces that support them—continue to change.
Built around the idea of meeting future needs with existing resources, project PARTYtion gives obsolete office furniture a new role through design. Standardized desks, cabinets, and partitions are taken apart and reconfigured into new furniture and spatial elements, turning the rigid order of the traditional office into a more open-ended design system.
Through projcet PARTYtion, META Design explores how resources already in circulation can respond to changing needs, while opening up new possibilities for materials and objects that would otherwise be discarded.
